Happy new year. I hope everyone will be in their best place this year. This disease has a depression end and numbers have a deep hold on us. Last year, physically and mentally, was my best year.
Exercise Beats Exhaustion
I started kickboxing. I think my body needed exercise. Giving in to the exhaustion was winning. My first kickboxing class, I couldn’t do anything jumping jacks, sit ups, lunges, squats, push ups. Nothing. I can’t tell you how many times I hurt and re-hurt every muscle in my body. Somehow, I was determine to gain control over something.
My mental health and my body was begging for the exercise, it took a long time to realize this.
No Restrictions
We don’t have restrictions. We don’t have you can’t do this. We don’t have you have 6 months to live. We don’t have get your affairs in order. We don’t have a funeral to plan.
We have give nothing to this disease. I cut out sugar and carbs. I do supplements, after researching and trying as to see what my body needs and reacts positively to.
I use mind over matter to get my butt up and go to the gym after a long crappy day at work. Mind over matter is one’s best gift. Use it. Disconnect from the disease.
Take care of ones self. Advocate, insist, annoy, whatever to get the answers you need. The cause…”why me?” and everything moan and groan should be a short chapter in your journey, otherwise you aren’t in control. Platelets aren’t your life. Breathe. Enjoy. Laugh. Live. And tell the statistics to go to hell! Peace everyone.
Christine has ET, JAK2+, diagnosed in 2011, on watch and wait.
