This patient story was featured on ABC 7, Chicago News. It is encouraging to see MPN patients share their story on the local TV news media. The MPN Research Foundation also covered Karrie’s story in their latest newsletter. I wish more patients would step forward and share their story with local news media channels. This is a wonderful opportunity to increase MPN awareness and gain more support for our illness. I will be doing the same in a local newspaper in July 2018.
Interferon is an off-label (repurposed) medication that is currently the only treatment to provide MPN altering effects for many patients (approximately 70%), while other patients may experience toxicities or little benefit.
